Honest Video Compressor & MP3 - Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 4, 2026

Honest Video Compressor & MP3 is an Android and iPhone app published by Rapace Studio. It compresses, converts, trims, crops, rotates and speeds up videos, mutes them, changes their volume, extracts their audio, and makes GIFs and loops.

Your videos stay on your device

All processing happens on your phone. The app has no code that uploads a video, a thumbnail or an audio track. We never receive your files.

You pick a video with the system picker. The result is written to your device. On Android, videos go to Movies/videokit and extracted audio to Music/videokit. On iPhone, the result goes to the app's Documents folder, shown as "My files" in the app and in the Files app. You can also save it to Photos. The app asks for permission to add to Photos only when you do that.

No account

There is no sign-up and no login. We do not ask for your name, e-mail address or phone number.

Ads

Free users see a rewarded ad from Google AdMob when an edit starts. Google may use your device's advertising identifier and other data to serve the ad. This is covered by Google's privacy policy.

In the European Economic Area, Google's consent screen appears when you open the app. You can reopen it any time in Settings, under "Ad privacy options".

On iPhone, the app asks for App Tracking Transparency permission before the first ad. The ad plays whatever you answer.

Premium removes the ads.

Statistics

The app sends usage statistics to Mixpanel, in a project hosted in the European Union. The app generates a random install id for this. It is not your advertising id and is not linked to your name or e-mail.

The events say things like: the app was opened, an edit started or ended (which tools, file size, duration, success or failure), an ad was shown or rewarded, the paywall was opened, a purchase succeeded or failed (product and price). Once a day the app also sends how many edits you have made, whether you are Premium, and how many files are in the app's folder. The statistics tool adds basic device details such as the operating system version, device model and screen size. We turned off IP-based location.

These statistics are not covered by the ads consent screen. They are sent whatever you answer there. The app has no setting to switch them off. To stop them, uninstall the app.

Purchases

Premium is a one-time purchase through Google Play or the App Store. Google or Apple handles the payment under its own privacy policy. We never see your card or payment details.

Our servers

The app talks to no server of ours. It only contacts the ad network, the statistics service and the store's billing service described above.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Your rights

If you live in the EU, you can ask for access to, correction of or deletion of your data, and object to its use. The statistics carry only a random id, so we may not be able to tell which data is yours. You can also complain to your data protection authority. In France, that is the CNIL.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version goes on this page with a new date.
